Brett graduated form the University of Washington , Seattle in 1988. He work in original printmaking for a number of years before working with oil pastel's in 1997, which then became his medium of choice. His inspiration is born from the works of the Impressionists and Abstract Expressionists - think Van Gogh meets Kandinsky at Gustave Klimt' house. Brett is fascinated by the ability of intense color and texture of line to convey an emotional expression from the artist to the viewer. Working with vivid color oil pastel, he creates images that are recognizable to welcome the viewer into the scene.
